India WinZ>>>
Well Finally India defeated Pakistan in India after 24 years I think. The series ended 3-2 for India. I guess it was mainly because the Pakistan side was weaker one in this tournament. Once again Sachin missed his century and this time by three runs. Last time he missed it by one run. This is the 6th time he missed his century in this year alone. Total number of times he got out in 90s moves now to 16!!! Its the highest number of times. The second highest is 9 times. Well Sachin is indeed creating records in everything. He by this time was supposed to have 48 centuries or so. Well I guess Sachin likes getting out in 90s. His shot that gave his wicket to Pakistan when he was in 97 was not the shot that a player usually plays when he is in 90s. I guess he was desperate to score the century and thats why he went for that shot. He could have left that delivery. Well India should think of surviving in Australia when they play against them in Australia. Already they are punishing Sri Lanka with everything they can. The new opener for Australia PA Jaques is doing the job of Langer. Lets see if India can win there.

F1 RACE!!!
Kenneth pointed out the Force India F1 Team website in a Twitter update so I decided to check it out.
The page loads with a rather dull intro and the actual page is decent looking. Nothing fancy. The tricolour animation on the menus was a bit silly.
Force India F1 Team
Even though the team is going to flop badly in the next season (all new teams do) it is still nice to see India competing in such an expensive international sporting event. The only other team to have the name of a country in its name is BAR (British American Racing). Now we have a home team to cheer, even though the only things Indian about the team are its owner and its name.

DSP!!!
DSP. Also known as the Degree Stopping Paper (since you just can’t pass the damn thing).
I had such a hard time studying for it. It was a vile mixture of filters and signals and functions with formulae thrown in here and there to make the whole thing more painful. See Vinod’s post here. It was literally painful studying for the subject. I was sitting with the book open well past midnight unable to concentrate for even two minutes on the subject.
So not worth it, man.
Bastards.
What possible use could I have for DSP? I will never use it in my life. My career is not going to suddenly require a knowledge of signal processing. I’m in the computer science stream for a reason. To learn about computers and software engineering processes. Not electronics. If I wanted to learn electronics I would have taken ECE or EEE!

Sony W810i
My old cell Nokia 1100 (more than one million of it were sold and its still being used by many around the world) had some problem. I was unable to talk for more than 15 or 20 minutes whenever I used to get calls from someone even when the battery charge was full. After 20 minutes it shows battery low. So I decided to change the cell. My brother was telling about buying motorola razr for a long time. But I insisted him to go for this model because I knew that he will give the cell after few months to me as this happens usually. So I went through some models and finally decided to go for Sony W810i. Its really a nice model with cool features. I have to download games and some themes for it. I am checking its features. Its not that difficult while typing message in Sony. Just one problem compared to Nokia 1100 is that its taking a bit more time as the keys are very near to each other. Camera is nice and the interface is good. Well I guess i wont use it for sometime. My bro gave me on the very first day. Then he said he’ll use it for few weeks or months and will give me later. :)

International Students’ Day
It seems today is International Students’ Day. I never knew this ;) . I was just going through wikipedia just a while ago and I came across this. But it seems some universities celebrate it some other day because of some political reason. I don’t know whether Anna University celebrates it. I am sure our college wont celebrate it ever in future also. I’ll be surprised if our college celebrate even a small function where students can enjoy for a while.

printf statement
printf statement plays lot of tricks with those who are always new to the C programming language. Consider the following statement which I was informed when I was doing my second semester
int i=5;
printf(”%d %d %d”,i,++i,i++);
The output predicted by most of the students is usually 5 6 6. But this is not the actual output for this statement. The printf statement usually is handled by the compiler from right side to left side. So it starts from i++ first. Here the initial value of i is 5. So when it reaches i++ statement the value remains the same (its a post increment) and the next step is ++i which is pre increment step and the value of i becomes 7 (coz the i++ increments the value of i after it reaches the next step i.e. ++i). So the final value of i is 7 here.
But while printing the printf statement executes in the normal fashion as we expect it to execute. So it prints the value of i first followed by ++i and finally i++. So the actual output for this statement is 7 7 5.
For those who know this please dont mind about this post. For those who dont know this hope you find it useful (though mostly all will be knowing it ;) But still many dont know this coz I’ve asked many about this and many still struggle in this).
I’ll ask an important question in the next post which i think many C program lovers will like.
Cheers!!!!

interesting facts and programs related to C programming.
Here are some interesting facts and programs related to C programming.
* We all know that to print something in the output screen we have to use printf statement and a printf statement statement ends with a semi-colon according to the syntax. But to print something in the output screen without using semi-colon we can make use of if statement with printf statement. Try executing the following code in Turbo C after including the header files.
void main()
{
if(printf(”Hi”))
{
}
}
The Hi given inside the printf will be displayed in the output screen. Since I didnt use the getch() statement, you’ll have to press alt+F5 to view the output screen. I’ll post few other small programs later which you may find useful for debugging competitions in other college symposiums.

Three things I hate in Firefox
Well, there are three things that I don’t like using firefox.
1. It takes 5 seconds to open when system is booted initally. Opera took 1 second.
2. Firefox’s download manager SUCKS! Opera’s download manager is no better though.
3. MEMORY HOGGER! MEMORY PIG! Firefox eats up 120 MB RAM when I opened 10 tabs! Opera took only 35 MB!!
The best thing I like about Firefox : Support for Extensions and Java scripts.

Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia, an awesome game has three sequels, “The sands of time”, “Warrior within” and “The two thrones”. I am at present playing “Warrior within” because “The sands of time” is not working in my system coz my system does not support that game but supports the other two.
“Warrior within” is really a cool game. Give it a try. The graphics is good, music is good and the moves made by the prince is really cool. Its worth playing. here are some pictures from the game “Warrior within”.

HP 7 Lands
I think mostly everyone would have finished reading The last book of Harry Potter series. The final book was not as expected. I expected her to tell what happened to harry and others after the dark lord died. She didnt mention what happened to the death eaters after the dark lord was killed by the boy who lived. She just stopped it without any proper ending. The epilogue was even worse. I expected her to tell what was harry’s profession at least in the epilogue. But there also she failed to tell what was the profession of harry and others.
I was reading The Hindu dated August 1, 2007 on the next day and came across the following (sorry for posting this so late. I’m very lazy and was busy with symposiums conducted by other colleges). So the profession of harry and others is given below.
->Harry was named head of the Auror Department under the new wizarding government headed by his friend and ally, Kingsley Shacklebolt.
->His wife Ginny Weasley, stuck with her athletic career, playing for the Holyhead Harpies, the all-female Quidditch team. But she left the team to raise her three children-James, Albus and Lily-while writing as the senior Quidditch correspondent for the wizarding newspaper, the Daily Prophet.
->Ron Weasley joined her brother, George, as a partner at their successful joke shop Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.
->Hermione Granger, Ron’s wife furthered the rights of subjugated creatures, such as house-elves, in the Department for the Regulation and control of Magical Creatures before joining the magical law enforcement squad. their children names are Rose and Hugo.
-> Luna Lovegood becomes a famous wizarding naturalist who eventually marries the grandson of Newt Scamander, author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
These informations were given by J.K. Rowling herself in her chat with Dainel Radcliffe.

Quiz ;)
So I start the QCT series with this quiz. Hope most of the questions wont be boring. I’ll post the answers in a post with the title as QCT 1 Answers and the scores of those who answered them in the comments. Cheers and all the best. Here I am posting 8 questions. I’ll try to keep ten in most of the posts.
1. Nokia released two premium multimedia handsets recently. Can you name them? (Both are N series and it was mentioned in The Hindu few days back).
2. X is an American multinational corporation with 54,000 employees and annual revenue of US$28.48 billion as of 2006. Headquartered in San Jose, California, it designs and sells networking and communications technology and services under five brands, namely X, Linksys, WebEx, IronPort, and Scientific Atlanta. Initially, X manufactured only enterprise multi-protocol routers but gradually diversified its product offering to move into the home user market with technologies such as VoIP while also expanding its offering for corporate customers. Identify X.
3. A _______ is a heavier-than-air craft where movement of the wings in relation to the aircraft is not used to generate lift. The term is used to distinguish from rotary-wing aircraft, where the movement of the wing surfaces relative to the aircraft generates lift. _________ are called airplanes in North America, and aeroplanes in Commonwealth countries and Ireland. ________ include a large range of craft from small training and recreational aircraft to large airliners and military cargo aircraft. (All the blanks are the same).
4. _________ magazine was a monthly fiction magazine founded by George Newnes. It was published in the United Kingdom from January 1891 to March 1950, though the first issue was on sale well before Christmas 1890. Its immediate popularity is evidenced by an initial sale of nearly 300,000. Sales increased in the early months, before settling down to a circulation of almost 500,000 copies a month which lasted well into the 1930s. It was edited by Herbert Greenhough Smith from 1891 to 1930. The Sherlock Holmes short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle were first published in __________ with illustrations by Sidney Paget. (Both blanks are the same)
5. ________ is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. The numerical weight that it assigns to any given element E is also called the ________ of E. (Both blanks are same)
6. X is an imaging touch screen and 3D display for gesture-based interaction. It was developed by Microsoft Research employee Andrew D. Wilson and made known to the public in late 2005. The technology was licensed to Eon Reality in July of 2006. X can both record and project simultaneously, and due to its 3D capabilities can be used almost as a mirror. It can capture a high definition image of anything placed up against the screen. This image is then displayed in 2D. Identify X.
7. ____________ (Codename: Milan), is a forthcoming Multi-touch product from Microsoft which is developed as a software and hardware combination technology that allows a user, or multiple users, to manipulate digital content by the use of natural motions, hand gestures, or physical objects. It was announced on May 29, 2007 at D5 conference, and is expected to be released by commercial partners in spring 2008. Initial customers will be in the hospitality businesses, such as restaurants, hotels, retail, and public entertainment venues.
8. X is generally any kind of electronic musical instrument, or electronic device capable of producing or manipulating audio tones, such as musical notes, through audio signal processing. X work by manipulating electrical signals which appear as sound when they are used to drive audio amplifiers. These tones are generated by electrical circuits which may work by manipulating a signal through a series of oscillators and filters in an analog circuit, or may perform mathematical manipulation of signals using a microprocessor and digital signal processing, or by a combination of both methods. Identify X.

BLUE CROSS
This is the worst week in my life,
I live in a colony where stray dogs are more
our colony people feed them
near my house , we used to feed a dog
it was like a pet to all of us
the day before yesterday ,it was hit by van
it was howling and we were afraid that it would die
so we called for "Blue Cross"
at first they noted the address and after 2 hours there
was no sign of them coming
so we called them again, now these fucking bastards are
saying bring it there and with the help of our colony
people we took it there
and a day went and today when our colony members went to visit
the dog, they are saying that the dog will die
and they are saying to take it back
they didnt even give a basic treatment,
so our colony members took it to a hospital
and now its treatment is going on,
i think it will be saved
Blue Cross - they are worst ass holes, i had ever seen.
Eating the money from the shit of animals, for this worthless
job , they could take begging as a profession
Animals are more human than the Humans
these people forgot the fucking humanity
